The successful incumbent will be working on vaccine-related clinical trials and will be possible for screening and recruiting new trial participants as well as supporting trial participants during the trial.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or Equivalent
Experience in a clinic / health care environment working with both adult and paediatrics patients
Sound knowledge of recruiting area (Masiphumelele)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Fluent in English and another South African Language
Valid Driver’s License (advantageous)
Computer Literacy (MS Office, Internet and electronic Data Management Systems advantageous
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Recruitment, screening and consenting of study participants (includes adults and children) in the community
Retention and follow-up of study participants (to attend appointments)
Assist participants in maintaining asthma diaries to track symptoms and triggers
Guide participants in self-monitoring techniques and provide education on maintaining health records
Do home visits to participants
Keep Research Nurse informed of participants and report any irregularities
Data Collection and administrative duties – questionnaires, data entry and verification
Maintain database of participant information and complete participant progress reports as required
Provide education and support to participants during the screening process
Educate participants on the studies
Drive to destinations to drop off and / or collect participants and /or documents as instructed by line manager
Ensure correct handling and transport of specimens to the relevant laboratories.
Set up and manage air quality monitors (personal and household) and community-based spore trap

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
